I finally got Ubuntu working on my laptop and I can assure you I will never go back to windows. It is so much faster and so much more secure. Unfortunately I have got a broadcom wireless card and its being a b*tch. I can't set it up to auto connect to new wireless access points (I type any or all in the essid field and it just sits and doesn't connect to a wap) and something is messed up in my network settings cause on startup my machine halts at the network part of startup for like 1-2 min.s. Everything else is working for me though. I started off by installing a bunch of stuff and its easy with SPM. I also installed a few of the O_o programs twice and I dont know how that happened. I was also given a title within the Linux Users Group today. I am now the head of advertising committee. With that title I have to make sure I do my best to do as much as I can to make sure PCLUG events get as much advertising as possible. Due to how busy I was Thursday I didn't get to reslife to see about the posters being posted in the dorms but I will be doing that Monday. Im also going to start to learn vim in my free time (when I have some).

Last week in review
(I started this blog on a monday so I decieded to review last week)

I heard lots of stuff thats really importent last week. A bunch of stuff has been anounced but its mostly old news now. I might spin of this section of the blog and just do it in individual posts through the week when I find out something that makes me angry.

Well on to last weeks pclug meeting. The meeting wasn't very interesting or very good just do to the fact that the server wasn't complety up and running (and still isn't to my knowlege). Evan had prepared to do a meeting based on the features of the server and how to use it but that didn't go over to well. We found out that the user accounts were not working correctly.... We really should wait till they are done with the server setup to go over that stuff.

We also had a lan party last friday night from 5 to 12. It was fun but we had a lackluster turn out do to the fact that there was no advertising for it. I think I might have to make a poster today for next weeks due to the fact that we should have a poster submitted soon and noone has stepped up and made one yet (If you read this and want to make one just post it on the wiki and tell evan about it and he'll know what to do from there).

As far as current projects go ive got a bunch. I want to install linux on my labtop (and im getting close I almost have all my anime backed up on dvds). I also have a few websites to design for Cit150. Ive got a bunch of homework that im waiting till the last minute to do. I also want to get swap disks for my ps2. There are other projects two but thoughs are my focus this week.
I have decieded to create this blog... My goals are to update it once a week on sunday with a segment I like to call this week in review. In this I will descuse all things (computer related) that has happened over the week that effects me. I will divide it into several parts. First is the what ive herd this week (through videocasts and podcasts). Second I will descuse the pclug meeting of the week. Third I will descuse my current projects.
